UPDATES ON MAPOLY BECOMING A UNIVERSITY TO RUN A MULTI-CAMPUS SOON

Ogun Governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun, on Monday signed the bill to upgrade the state-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta to Moshood Abiola University of Science

and Technology, Abeokuta. Also signed into law is the bill to establish the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia in Yewa area of the state. Amosun signed the bills during the state’s Executive Council meeting at the governor’s office in Abeokuta. 

Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, He said the MKO university which would operate a multi- campus system, was expected to boost science and technology in the state. This is the highest bestowed on the late MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential poll rated worldwide as one of the freest and best elections in the history of the country. The administration of the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha had arrested and detained Abiola for declaring himself president following the annulment of the election by military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. Ogun had named the state polytechnic and the state stadium in Abeokuta after him. Amosun commended the State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill. 

In an interview with newsmen after the occasion, Mr Suraj Adekunbi, the Speaker, said the House gave the bill accelerated passage because of the priority attention the government accorded education.

He noted that the establishment of the two institutions would create more jobs in the state. The House had on Jan. 31 passed the MKO Abiola University Bill and the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia, Bill.

Nigerian Campus Cooking Contest (N3C) - Third Edition

The Third edition of the Nigerian Campus Cooking Contest (N3C) is here as it sets to invade South-west Nigeria. Nigeria Campus Cooking Contest is an annual event aimed at improving and discovering the best cooking talents in the country.

This year, the event will be carried out on 7 states in South-west Nigeria - Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Kwara state. 52campuses will compete, 12centres will be used on 5stage and at the end only 1winner - the Master Chef.

Ogun Education Summit Commences




The planned 2-day, Ogun State Education Summit, started in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on Monday.




The Summit started with papers presented by the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Phillips Consulting, Mr Foluso Phillips and Associate Professor, Pan African University, Dr. Doyin Salami.

Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta will on Friday, July 22 begin the sales of forms for admission into the institution for the 2016/17 academic session.

The forms are for applicants seeking admission into the polytechnic for different National Diploma programmes.

Public Relations Officer of the institution, Sulaimon Adebiyi said this in a chat with PRESS CLUB MAPOLY on Thursday.

Adebiyi said the price and modalities of the purchasing the form is tandem with those given by the Federal Ministry of Education.

According to Adebiyi, only candidates who scored 180 and above in the 2016 JAMB examination are eligible to apply.

The PRO said the form is to be purchased for N2500 on the polytechnic portal, www.mapoly.edu.ng.

He added that applicants would be informed duly on the date of the screening.
