GO AND MAKE YOUR RESEARCH, ASUP MAPOLY TELLS NAPS

The stand of ASUP over MAPOLY-OGUNPOLY transformation made by the government of Ogun State remained the assumed unanswered question that everyone including the governor wants to know. Though these had earlier been disseminated by ASUP according to their last communique from the meeting that resulted to the ongoing ASUP MAPOLY indefinite strike, they have however been further told by the ASUP Chairman, Mr. Kola Abiola in a phone conversation held last night with NAPS National Director of Programs, Comrade Oluwasegun Akinniyi.

Over the admission crisis, he was persistent on the fact that they will teach if taken to Ipokia provided there are students to teach and classes to occupy them. In a point to defend the  fact that those conditions were not provided, he said, "stop listening to 'they say', let your press or other interested students go to Ipokia, go and check the building and their status, then come back and tell all students from your result if it is the government or ASUP that had been lying and delaying you."

As regard the salary, he insisted on not saying anything over it, since it  may be a way of speaking to his own favour. "Go to the bursary, find out how much they paid and how much they are supposed to pay. You will then know if ASUP are lying." He said.

Speaking generally, Mr. Kola Abiola declares that ASUP MAPOLY are joining the general ASUP strike across the country. "If Nigeria is sick, is Ogun State not sick as well," he said.

The about eight minutes call has publicly revealed that the stand of ASUP are;
1. That Ipokia construction should be completed and ND 1 admission should take place.
2. If Ipokia would not be completed, there should be admission in MAPOLY.
3. The salaries of ASUP should be settled.

We however call on the governor pleading that he look diligently into this issue and put the students in mind.

NAPS CONDEMNS MISMANAGEMENT OF STUDENT'S WELFARISM IN MAPOLY

Following the further cancellation of examination in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic as a result of the indefinite strike embarked on by ASUP MAPOLY Chapter, it has clearly been revealed that the welfarism of our students has greatly been denied of them and has been mismanaged.

An adage says, "when two elephants fight, the field around bears the pain". The students has for long been suffering from the crisis rising between the Ogun State government and ASUP MAPOLY Chapter, but *"enough is enough",* we cannot continue to suffer the pain.

Their crisis has affected us in the following ways:
1. It has made us live at extra cost out of hope that the crisis will end soon. Many of our students are still in Abeokuta suffering to feed themselves, we achieved nothing in school, yet we are spending on daily basis. Many as well has been travelling to and fro over this issue spending a lot.

2. Extension in days of education leading to another payment of house rent for students who should have finish and leave for their various places.

3. Delay in the academic career of our students. HND 2 students are facing the risk of going for their NYSC, ND1 students are with the doubt of going for their SIWES and ND 2 students are with the fear of shortened days of their IT.

4. Loss of student's life. Some of our students were involved in an accident last week where their vehicle got totally burnt with some passengers. This was reported by a HND 1 student of Microbiology who escaped the death due to a phone call she got down from the vehicle to go and received when the vehicle broke down. How long shall we continue to lose our students life over this issue?

The Management of MAPOLY has watched the government suffer her lecturers for long and now they have been watching them suffer their students.

The ASUP has rightly been fighting for themselves and now NAPS would embark on seriously fighting for their students too if these crisis are not resolved within one week from now. Within this one week, the management should also speak to us over the issue that the students may all fully know what is happening. We would not watch the management suffer our lecturers and students any longer.

If our desire is not met in a week, we would not hesitate to take this issue up to powerful, higher and royal authorities in Ogun State and in Nigeria.

Govt Earmarks 50 Billion Naira For Moshood Abiola Uni, Ogun Poly

Ogun State government has set aside the sum of N50billion for the take off the Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology (MAUSTECH), Abeokuta, and the newly established Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia.

The state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, disclosed this on Saturday during the Treasury Board meeting for the 2018 budget preparation held at the Obas’ Complex in Abeokuta, the state capital.

“Government has earmarked N50 billion for the take-off of the two schools,” the governor said.

He, however, urged lecturers at present Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) who are desirous of going to the new polytechnic in Ipokia not to hesitate at making their intention known as soon as possible.

He urged them to continue to support government’s agenda at rebuilding education sector in the state, saying the two institutions have come to stay.

“Don’t allow yourself to be used by anyone who does not mean well for the citizens of the state,” the governor said.

ASUP MAPOLY CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION OF ACTING RECTOR

Members of Academic Staff Union Of embattled Mashood Abiola Polytechnic are at logger head with the state governor over the appointment of Acting Rector for the institution.

The National Vice President of the Union Timothy Ogunseye says the appointment of Ayodeji Suleiman Tella who he described as a Retired School Principal as the acting Rector underscores the rot in the system.

Crisis started since the recent upgrade of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta to a university status, and the establishment of Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia.

The latest development shows that there is no end in sight to the face- off between the government and the aggrieves lecturers since the crisis started on July 12th, 2017.

Timothy Ogunseye later addressed Members of the union at the gate after being denied access into the polytechnic premises.

Effort to get the reaction of the Acting Rector failed as his Aides he was not within the Premises.
